NBCs TWO-TIME EMMY WINNER DAVID SWARTZ
TO JOIN VARSITY ENTERTAINMENT
--Network Producer Joins Forces With New York-Based TV Production Group--
New York, N.Y. -- March 20, 2002 -- Varsity Entertainment, a television and video production company specializing in Original Program Development, Program Packaging and Post-production Services, today announced prominent NBC veteran David Swartz will join the company as a Producer. Swartz has won two Emmy Awards for his production roles in NBCs coverage of the 1998 World Track and Field Championships and the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Swartz will be handling several areas of responsibility for Varsity, including production of all projects that Varsity handles for a wide range of television networks. Swartz will also be producing Varsitys Original Programming, as well as developing original content for the Company.
A graduate of the University of Rochester, Swartz began his career as a production assistant with Turner Sports prior to becoming an Associate Producer for the Sports Illustrated for Kids TV Show on CBS. Swartz branched out from there and some of his most notable production work has included coverage of the X-Games for ESPN, the Goodwill Games for Turner Sports, the NBA on TNT, and College Basketball and the Nagano 1998 Winter Olympics for CBS.
Swartz joins Varsity from NBC, where he was a Producer in their Olympic Feature Department from 1999 to 2002, working on features for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and Salt Lake 2002 Olympics. He has produced stories for NBC properties including the Triple Crown of horse racing, the World Track and Field Championships, and other events. His Olympic work has been spotlighted by publications including the New York Times and Boston Globe, with the St. Louis Dispatch calling some of his 2002 work a highlight of the Olympics" for NBC.
