NEW SOFTWARE QUICKLY DETECTS VULNERABILITIES IN NETWORK DEVICES
SimpleSoft introduces a new product that identifies vulnerabilities in SNMPv3 implementations, as well as SNMPv2c and SNMPv1 implementations.
(PRWEB) May 4, 2002 - SimpleSoft, a leading provider of SNMP test and simulation tools, today announced the release of SimpleSleuth®, an SNMP vulnerability probe that enables administrators and manufacturers to quickly and easily test enterprise SNMP v1, v2c and v3 implementations for vulnerability to denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.
A February CERT security advisory exposed potential vulnerabilities in the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and stated that SNMP installations were vulnerable to denial-of-service-type attacks. As security issues surrounding enterprise network installations circulated, SimpleSoft engineered a cost-effective, intelligent vulnerability test solution.
"Administrators can now quickly determine if all SNMP implementations on their network are vulnerable to attack," said Sudhir Pendse, SimpleSoft CEO, "For the first time, vulnerabilities can also be identified in SNMPv2c and SNMPv3. SimpleSleuth provides an easy to use interface that simplifies vulnerability testing and pin-points the packet that causes the vulnerability."
SimpleSleuth can also verify if vendor patches work, and that they do not introduce new vulnerabilities into SNMP environments. SimpleSleuth has a modular architecture that allows users to purchase only the needed test suite modules, maximizing their return on investment. Test packets are dynamically created and configurable, giving the user control over the test environment and various values used in the packet. Tests can be configured to check agent status after each bad packet transmission.
AVAILABILITY
SimpleSleuth is immediately available in four modules: SNMPv3 Agent, SNMPv2c Agent, SNMPv1 Agent and SNMPv1 Manager. For more information, please contact SimpleSoft at 650-965-4515 or visit www.SNMPtest.com
SimpleSoft also produces the SimpleTester, an automated agent tester that enables protocol conformance testing of SNMP agents. In addition, SimpleSoft produces the SimpleAgentPro family of SNMP Network Simulators that can simulate network elements and entire networks, as well as various types of network scenarios.
