Satelindo launches instant prepaid Top-Up service using technology from SmartTrust and Zaryba

SMS-based service connects prepaid accounts directly to subscribers bank accounts, facilitating immediate, anytime, anywhere Top-Up.

One of Indonesias leading and most innovative cellular operators, Satelindo, has launched the very first voucherless prepaid top-up service to mobile subscribers based on technology from SmartTrust and Zaryba. Launched in partnership with two of Indonesias largest banks, BCA (Bank Central Asia) and BII (Bank Internasional Indonesia), users with bank accounts at either bank can now top-up their mobile prepaid accounts using a simple SMS-based mechanism directly from the handset. The service removes the need for mobile users to credit their accounts using traditional voucher-based mechanisms.

SmartTrust, a leading developer of infrastructure solutions designed to enable secure mobile e-services, has implemented its Delivery Platform and Wireless Internet Browser (WIB) solution alongside Zarybas own TopUp application. The WIB, stored locally on the handsets SIM card, allows users to navigate simple menu-driven services and interact with mobile e-services delivered by the mobile operator via Delivery Platform using simple SMS.

Voucherless top-up is another service innovation by Satelindo to increase convenience for our subscribers. This new service benefits prepaid subscribers who are looking for a simple and convenient way to buy airtime securely, anytime and anywhere. Based around SMS it requires very little experience from the end-user to initiate a top-up. This is just the beginning of our m-payment and m-commerce era. We have chosen SmartTrust for its proven track record, secure platform and ability to provide a full turnkey solution", explains Jan Nilsson, Senior Executive Vice President of Satelindo.

This is the first-ever example of a mobile transaction system involving multiple financial institutions and service partners -- the start of a true wireless commerce marketplace," adds Mark Richards, Vice President of International Sales, SmartTrust. In addition to the top-up application, subscribers could also use the WIB enabled SIM card to gain access to Satelindo Access services such as sports, entertainment and news."

Because of its ease of use and convenience for the user, as well as the great business case for the mobile operator, Geert Hilbrandie, Managing Director of Zaryba, sees mobile top-ups as the industrys single largest mobile payment application. "Strong cooperation with SmartTrust has enabled us to bring Satelindo the benefits of Zaryba TopUp. Our solutions are aimed at enhancing customer convenience and user experience within mobile payment services," he explains.
