Leveling The Playing Field For Small Business

Hudson, IN -- May 3, 2002 -- mytown.com, Inc., an Internet start-up located in Hudson, Indiana, announces the launch of a unique marketing program for small business owners. The company offers a variety of advertising packages that permit small businesses to target the local or regional consumer base at very affordable rates.

The company's founder, Jim Davis, says, "We want to level the playing field for small business owners. Online advertising buys have traditionally been for major players. We intend to change tradition. This is more than typical banner ad click-throughs. We permit local advertisers to build brand awareness through long-term campaigns, very inexpensively."

When asked about the soft online advertising market, Davis responded, "A lot of things have changed since the bubble, but we're not interested in servicing a handful of Internet gazillionaires -- we want the local market -- which eclipses national advertising expenditures. You tell me. Would you rather have $50,000 dollars from a hundred advertisers, or $200 dollars from a million small business owners?"

The company currently offers a very special rate of $249.00 for a 12-month marketing campaign! The option includes a "run of network" banner ad for the community of the advertiser's choice. The banner ad is presented at the top of community pages. Most advertisers can expect to share impressions with other local advertisers, but the campaign is for a full year. Additionally, the advertiser receives an enhanced business directory listing. Davis stated, "Our Business Directory provides free directory listings to any business owner, but the enhanced directory listing really allows the business owner to sell the visitor with additional information about the business. In many cases these advertisers will pay more for their ISP service every year than our promotional services."

But mytown.com is much more than cheap online advertising for local business owners. The company provides "community-building" applications to more than 30,000 cities and towns across the United States and plans expansion to global markets immediately. "The Internet has concluded the novelty phase. Now people are looking for truly useful application. We think usefulness lies in facilitating personal relationships, local commerce, and in providing a common, integrated venue for any non-profit organization, i.e., the local little league team. At the same time, our community sites act as a liasion to the global community, too.", Davis said.
