They Are Watching Microsoft Like A Hawk
Not surprising. The Web site, after all, is www.WatchingMicrosoftLikeAHawk.com and their motto is "Every move they make - we'll be watching them." (With no apology to Sting.) The site launched in late March and is dedicated exclusively to hard news and commentary about the Redmond software giant.
Not surprising. The Web site, after all, is WatchingMicrosoftLikeAHawk.com and their motto is "Every move they make - we'll be watching them." (With no apology to Sting.)
The site launched in late March and is dedicated exclusively to hard news and commentary about the Redmond software giant. Frank Hayson, VP Operations of Lasater e-Properties, cheerfully admits that the site is principally a "big link farm."
"Our site is about saving time. If someone wants to stay on top of news about Microsoft, we give it to them in one place. We monitor hundreds of news sites and update throughout the day and night. It would take someone hours to track down the twenty to thirty stories we put up daily."
He also makes it clear that this is not another Microsoft hate site. "We have no agenda. Microsoft is the most important player in the industry and we cover all news about them - good, bad or indifferent. Some of the sites we monitor are clearly anti-Microsoft but we also link to Microsoft's press releases when they are news-worthy or interesting."
The site also has the complete quarterly financial statements for Microsoft going back to 1993. "We compiled and conformed them directly from Microsoft's SEC filings." Hayson said. "We are not aware of any place else you can get the complete quarterly statements free of charge on the Internet."
They round out their Microsoft coverage with extensive links to MSFT stock sites, U.S.v. Microsoft coverage and, of course, Microsoft humor (good, bad and indifferent).
Asked about their visitor profile, Hayson said; "We really don't know much about them yet. We haven't done any surveys yet. We do know from our log files that we are getting visitors from all over the world and, of course, a lot from "Softies" and Sun and AOL domains."
Seems a lot of people "watch Microsoft like a hawk", including "Softies" themselves.
