The "5th International Neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, & Related Disorders" will focus on applied efforts within the pharmaceutical industry and academia to discover new drugs to treat AD, PD, Ischemic Stroke, and MS, announces Strategic Research Institute.
The June conference, the fifth in the series since 1995 and focused on applied science, features presentations of new work by a rich variety of pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic scientists engaged in cutting edge work in these fields.
The focused mix of the participants, smaller size to facilitate informal discussion and networking, and quality science has made the conference a fixture on the neuroscience meeting calendar.
The meeting is organized into 6 discrete sections, namely, Drug Candidates and Novel Targets, Vaccination and Sequestration, Prevention of Plaque Formation & Deposition, Pathophysiology of Alzheimer's Disease, Ischemic Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis.
2002 highlights include: "Passive Immunization with AB Antibodies in a Mouse Model of AD" (Eli Lilly), "Modulation of Amyloid Deposition and Learning in an APP+PS1 Transgenic Mouse by Afl Vaccination and a Nitro-NSAID" (University of South Florida), "Repinotam: A Putative Neuroprotective Compound in Acute Ischaemic Stroke" (Bayer), and Robust, Chronic Reduction in Amyloid Burden in Brains of PDAPP Mice Treated Orally with a Potent Functional gamma-Secretase Inhibitor" (Eli Lilly).
The agenda features 20 talks in total over two days.
