PLM with more advanced functionalities

Improve the time-to-market of new products - e-PLM - Product Lifecycle Management speCX with more advanced functionalities Version 2.4 of the e-PLM - Product Lifecycle Management speCX of Compex IT Plant Solutions allows product specifications to be configured centrally and made available across the company over the Internet or Intranet. The e-PLM-solution from the subsidiary of Siemens thus allows cross-location and international workflow regarding the approval of new specifications. This improves the time-to-market of new products. What's more, the new version manages information in an unlimited number of languages. The list of supported hardware operating systems and relational database management systems (RDBMS) was also expanded.

speCX can manage product specifications in a multi-site and multi-language environment and makes this information available throughout the company and even the supply chain. Manual changes in a variety of documents in various systems are now a thing of the past. The new version of the Compex tool improves the cross-location and international coordination and harmonization of specifications which may contain recipes, bills of material (BOM), nutritional values, production methods, quality norms and methods. Local organization units can add country-specific and location-specific elements in a controlled way. Bills of material can be defined and put into effect in a variable manner depending on the situation in the plant, so as to use up existing stocks first or to introduce new specifications in good time. Furthermore, purchasing can be coordinated and optimized globally.

Global work flow is achieved by granting individual or group-specific access rights to distributed databases. Users are informed by e-mail about changes to specifications within the entire product life-cycle. Extended web-enabled search and filter functions facilitate the company-wide comparison and harmonization of specifications and bills of material. Access to plant-specific bills of material means, for instance, that the question "What quantity of which raw material is used in which works?" can be answered. Over the Internet suppliers can also actively be involved in drafting and releasing specifications for products. This reduces the time needed for approval of specifications considerably and reduces the risk of working with outdated or invalid specifications.

speCX furthermore supports the calculation of nutritional values and the chemical composition from the bill of materials. User ad-hoc reports, claim reports and labels can be created for specific countries with the interface to Business Objects Universe. Finally, a comprehensive online user site has been created, offering speCX licensees access to all e-PLM product documentation and training material.
