Cow Hear This! A Texas Music Compilation... IN STORES NOW!

Compendia Music has created COW Hear This!, the first in a compilation series that pulls together the top artists and groups of todays Texas music scene. In the same way that the NOW series captures whats hot and current on the pop/soul charts and the WOW series compiles the top hits from the Christian charts, COW acts as a audio snapshot of the music scene on college campuses all across Texas

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (PRWEB) May 9, 2002 -- Saying that the Lone Star state is a hot-bed of music talent is kind of like saying that beer is good . . . both are stating the obvious. With artists like Buddy Holly, Bob Wills, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Lyle Lovett, George Strait and many, many others hailing from within its borders, music and Texas are nearly inseparable.

In fact, theres something powerful and organic happening on college campuses all over Texas right now. Rabidly supporting the fresh, passionate artists that traverse the state singing of love, heartache and good times, young Texans have created a scene that belongs to them alone.

A lot of these artists are booking their own shows, making their own records and selling their own product -- and doing very well for themselves, thank you very much, without interference from labels or (God forbid) Nashville interlopers . . .

New indie label Compendia Music has been watching this scene, and we like what we see -- and hear. Weve even thought of a way to bring something useful to the party, so to speak, for both the fans of this music AND the artists.

Compendia Music has created COW Hear This!, the first in a compilation series that pulls together the top artists and groups of todays Texas music scene. In the same way that the NOW series captures whats hot and current on the pop/soul charts and the WOW series compiles the top hits from the Christian charts, COW acts as a audio snapshot of the music scene on college campuses all across Texas.

The artists collected on COW Hear This! are recognizable to the hundreds of thousands of young people that jam the clubs, halls and concert venues to see these bands nightly. COW features the proudly independent Eleven Hundred Springs, Reckless Kelly, Kevin Fowler, Cooder Graw, Jason Boland and the Stragglers and Cross Canadian Ragweed, as well as names known outside of Texas, like Pat Green, Bruce Robison and Jack Ingram. COW even salutes some of the forerunners of this scene by including music from Asleep At The Wheel, Rodney Crowell and Kevin Welch.

With liner notes/music essay from writer Joe Bob Briggs, album artwork from each of the bands own projects promoted on the website and within COWs packaging materials and a single, Eleven Hundred Springs "See You In The Next Life", being worked by a Texas promoter at Texas radio, Compendia Music took pains to make sure that COW Hear This! ! (on the specially created sub-label Cowpendia) properly represents the organic, heart-felt movement that we first fell in love with.

Quite simply -- we get it. COW Hear This! - the compilation and the movement it represents -- is a Texas thing, and were not gonna mess with it.

Not bad for a group of Nashville interlopers, eh?
