New Book Examines Life in the Former USSR and Post-Soviet Russia
What was it like growing up in the Former USSR? How did things change as the transition was made to its post-Communist heir?
Russian Experiences: Life in the Former USSR and Post-Soviet Russia is the first-hand account of "The Raven," who was born in Baku City, Azerbaijan, in the Former Soviet Union. When stricken by an unusual childhood disease, the author received incorrect treatment and was left with severe damage to his nervous system, including hearing loss.
Russian Experiences: Life in the Former USSR and Post-Soviet Russia is also a story of courage. Although school officials wanted the author to attend a special school due to his handicap, The Raven persisted in the regular school system.
The book was co-authored by Marie Claire, who inspired The Raven to write the book and added content along the way.
