WorkSoft, Inc. Announces the Newest Release of its Certify Solution -- (5/08/2002)

DALLAS, Texas -- May 8, 2002 -- WorkSoft, Inc., a leading developer of software solutions used to certify the accuracy of business-critical IT applications, today unveiled the next-generation version of its Certify software product. This major release of WorkSofts Certify provides advanced support for developing and maintaining automated test processes against Web dynamic sites, and also includes support for Java applets.

The page layouts of most critical web-based applications are dynamically generated, based on the contents of databases or the results of business rules," notes Linda Hayes, WorkSoft Chief Technology Officer. This makes it virtually impossible to reuse automation scripts that require consistency to be replayed."

The problem arises because the inventory of objects, which most automation tools rely upon, is constantly fluctuating. This means either a major investment in programming logic or extensive maintenance to keep scripts current. Coupled with the rapid rate of change that is the rule, this overhead makes it difficult to realize a positive return on automation investments.

Certify now captures special intelligence about web pages that can recognize and manage dynamic content," described Ms. Hayes. This information allows Certify to provide powerful search capabilities for specific data instances and also supports automated maintenance as changes are implemented."

This new version was developed in conjunction with Sabre Online Travel Services, whose popular travel sites are characterized by highly dynamic content and flexibility. The new release of Certify has also been deployed by other major Certify customers -- all of whom had been previously unsuccessful using traditional scripting tools for their critical web applications.

Java applet support has also been added in this release. Certify web processes can now span HTML pages with integrated Java applets. Java applets are often used to extend HTML in order to provide complex functionality," said Ms. Hayes. Certify makes the difference between the two technologies invisible to the user, allowing seamless tests across both components."

WorkSoft's customers include Sabre Travel, MetLife, and Charles Schwab & Co., all of whom have deployed WorkSoft's flagship product, Certify, within their organizations. WorkSofts Certify is a trademark of WorkSoft, Inc., a corporation headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
