Poggenpohl Selected by Millennium Partners to Design Luxury Kitchens for Renovation of Georgetown's Historic Incinerator Building
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) May 11, 2002 - The New York City-based real estate firm
Millennium Partners, developers of The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown and The
Residence at The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown, today announced that it had
selected Poggenpohl U.S., Inc., the leader in high-performance luxury
kitchen and bath design, to furnish kitchen cabinetry in all 28 residential
units of the elegant adaptive reuse of the Georgetown's historic Incinerator
Building. The multi-million dollar Poggenpohl contract with The Ritz-Carlton
is set for completion in late Fall 2002.
"Poggenpohl kitchens are a perfect match for the famed service and style of
The Ritz-Carlton. They exude unsurpassed luxury, elegant design and quality
that have always been associated with both the Poggenpohl and Ritz-Carlton
names," said Amir Farazad, Managing Director of Poggenpohl for the
mid-Atlantic region.
The kitchens being installed in The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton,
Georgetown will feature custom tinted maple cabinets and framed doors with
inset panels for a classic look. The kitchen's granite worktop will offer
ample space to efficiently accommodate a professional chef. The gourmet
kitchens are not only intimate enough for personal cooking, but are also
large enough for entertaining family and friends. Subzero, Viking and Meile
are examples of appliances featured in the timeless Poggenpohl kitchens that
highlight superior form and functionality.
"We chose Poggenpohl for The Residences because it was a natural fit and we
anticipate that our occupants are familiar with the highly regarded brand,"
says a spokesperson from Millennium Partners.
The 500,000-square-feet Incinerator project will include an 8791 room
Ritz-Carlton boutique hotel, 100,000 square feet of condominium apartments,
10,000 square feet of upscale retail space and a 2,800-seat, 13-screen,
Loews Multiplex Theater, which will fill the void felt by the closure of
both the Key and Biograph Theaters in Georgetown.
Just as Poggenpohl has made a strong presence in New York, London, Paris and
Los Angeles, now its sleek, minimalist and classic designs are becoming more
prevalent in the Washington, D.C. area. The combined presence of a young,
hip design-savvy population, with Washington's sophisticated international
residents has increased the demand for aesthetically beautiful and
long-lasting kitchens. Poggenpohl uses durable state-of-the-art materials,
ergonomics and organizational systems to create livable workspaces that
perform.
In addition to furnishing The Residences at The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown,
Poggenpohl has recently completed projects in D.C. for The Ritz-Carlton,
Washington on 23rd and M Street, the SoLo Piazza in Logan Circle, and is
completing a project at the Icon Building on 13th Street.
