Belfort Instrument Announces FAA Approval of Dual Barometric Pressure Sensors for DigiWx
Upgrade to DigiWx Automated Weather System Supports FAA Part 91/135 IFR operations and Enables Eligibility for AIP Funding and State Grants
Baltimore, MD - May 9, 2002 --- The Belfort Instrument Company is pleased to announce that the Aircraft Maintenance Division of the FAA (AFS-350) has recently granted approval for the dual barometric pressure sensor of the DigiWx Automated Digital Weather System. This approval represents an important milestone for the DigiWx product line as it evolves to provide full IFR flight support for private and commercial operations and now becomes eligible for AIP funding and state grants.
DigiWx is a cost-effective weather station that delivers aviation quality local weather data to both pilots and FBO operators. DigiWx combines the power of voice recognition and web technology to deliver real-time mission critical weather data collected from an array of sensors that meet or exceed accuracy standards of comparable AWOS systems. This data is delivered through various means including discreet radio frequencies (including UNICOM/CTAF), telephone, the Internet or handheld devices. By providing easily accessible real-time mission critical weather information, DigiWx enhances aircraft flight safety and operational performance.
Belfort has also initiated the process of obtaining approval for the integration of its FAA Approved ASOS Model 6230 Visibility sensor into the DigiWx platform - approval is expected mid-year. Belfort's recently launched, low-cost Model 6000 Visibility Sensor, now provide airports with an opportunity to deliver mission critical weather data in support of private and commercial IFR operations at a very affordable acquisition price with little to no on-going service cost.
DigiWx system pricing starts as low as $7-10K, which supports Part 91 VFR applications. Pricing for the advanced system which includes all of the Part 135 IFR options and a complete package of data transmission options is approximately $25K - a mere fraction of comparable systems.
