Flander Ltd, a Finland-based mobile technology company, has announced the availability of IrmaTM (Infrared Mobile Accessory), an innovative pocketsize wireless device that turns the Nokia 9210 Communicator into a presentation tool. Together with a communicator and a data projector, Irma enables showing regular PowerPoint slides from the phones memory. Nokia has tested and
approved Irma as an official Nokia OK accessory.
Connected wirelessly via infrared to a communicator and via a regular VGA cable to a data projector, Irma is extremely easy to use and quick to activate. Irma weighs only 110 grams and is handy to carry when on the move (dimensions 99 x 90 x 24 mm). The device utilizes the Nokia 9210 Communicators battery charger, thus eliminating the need to carry separate power suppliers.
For salespeople, executives and others using the Nokia 9210 Communicator as their everyday business tool,Irma provides a new and easy means to give professional presentations. Shrunk to pocketsize, presentationtools are easy to carry along at all times. Compared to using regular laptop PCs, Irma switches on immediately, is significantly smaller and lighter, and provides communicator users with a cost efficient means to givepresentations. Furthermore, Irma supersedes the need to print out presentation slides from a desktop PC.
When using Irma, PowerPoint presentations are first converted to sets of JPEG images on a PC and then saved in the Nokia 9210 Communicator. The process is carried out in a few seconds with easy-to-use Irma Suite software, requiring only a few mouse-clicks from the user. The communicator is in turn equipped with additional Irma Client software, which delivers the images automatically from the communicator to Irma and to the data projector. Irma is capable of transmitting any presentation compiled of still images, with virtually unlimited maximum size. The Nokia 9210 Communicator has enough memory to store several presentations.
When demonstrating the prototype of Irma at exhibitions with Nokia last year, we encountered a high number of communicator users interested in our device. Having received the official Nokia OK approval and with Irma now in mass production, we are currently working to establish strong distribution channels across Europe and Asia. In addition, due to the launch of the Nokia 9290 Communicator in the United States, we expect the total market demand for Irma to grow significantly", said Mika Heikinheimo, CEO of Flander Ltd. Flander is currently negotiating about Irma's distribution with several large Nokia OK accessory dealers across Europe and Asia. Irma is also available directly through the manufacturer's web site at www.corporatekeys.com with most credit cards. The product is priced at 335 euros excluding delivery costs.
