LIBeLIS unveils LiDO 1.2 First universal implementation of The Java Data Objects Specification (JDO 1.0)

Paris, April 25th, 2002. LIBeLIS releases LiDO 1.2, the first global implementation of the Java Data Objects (JDO 1.0). LiDO 1.2 delivers universal and transparent access solutions to heterogeneous data sources, RDBMS, ODBMS and files for java applications.
A new market is emerging, for Universal Data Access, which will become a key element of J2EE based architectures" said Eric Samson, LIBeLIS President, JDO solves the persistence issue of Java Objects, which is why LIBeLIS is deeply involved in the Java Community Process which defines the JDO specification".
Companies need simple, transparent and universal access to all their heterogeneous data sources. Existing solutions within a Java environment (JDBC, EJB) result in tedious developments, low performance, and are limited to relational databases
Development mapping costs account for 20% to 50%, depending upon the complexity of the object model. Costs may reach 40% and, in some cases as much as60% whilst maintaining applications. Performance wise, EJB Entity CMP 2.0 are found to be 10 to 60 times slower than hand coded persistence.
LiDO 1.2 is an ideal solution for rebuilding or opening large information systems to the Internet. It delivers major productivity gains to software editors, freeing them from the data sources used by their customers. Integrators may benefit from this productivity gap to increase their margin and their competitiveness. An additional advantage is that by removing limits induced by storage engines, LiDO allows them to build more realistic business models.
About LiDO 1.2.
LiDO 1.2, is the first universal implementation of the Java Data Objects (JDO 1.0) to deliver transparent and universal access to existing data sources such as RDMBS, ODBMS and files from Java environments. LiDO 1.2 implements both mandatory and optional features of JDO 1.0.
LiDO 1.2 targets compliance with Java Data Objects 1.0 specifications and delivers to its user unrivalled performances via:
·   A dual query engine accessing both the client cache and the database engine,
·   Use of pools of SQL Prepared Statements",
·   Configurable use of Batch of Statements" JDBC 2,
·   Configurable loading of SQL results sets,
·   Direct mapping of existing SQL queries and Stored Procedures.
LiDO 1.2 includes advanced features, designed for increased productivity in an enterprise environment :
·   Mapping of existing schemas of relational databases allows its use for new applications within an existing information system,
·   The access to existing data sources, managed through an external property file, allows for a better management of deployments,
·   A logging and monitoring utility to optimise mapping strategies,
·   A graphical utility to create XML mapping documents (LiDO Project Manager),
·   A graphical utility to browse business object models (NAViLIS),
·   A complete Tag Library to facilitate the development of JSP pages,
·   The support of the Connector Architecture (JCA) brings a seamless integration with J2EE Application Servers.
