The Otec patented process for deburring and polishing small intricate, machined and stamped components continues to innovate by providing productivity boosting machines for small job shop owners and large scale manufacturers alike. Otec Precision Finish Inc is the booth they must visit for a full range of solutions that deliver on quality, performance and price. Latest developments include equipment that is ideal for cell production and just-in-time processes, while new superfine media and compounds raise the quality of finishing further. New Otec machines that substitute oil for water promise even faster deburring by eliminating the need for batching, degreasing and regreasing.
Breaking the log jam caused by batching components for deburring is the Holy Grail of just-in-time production. New Otec CF Series machines now make this possible with a combination of innovations. The new Otec equipment is compact allowing it to be located right in the manufacturing cell. Being up to 10 times faster than vibro machines and 20 times faster than conventional barrel finishing, means the CF keeps pace with CNC production and so eliminates the need for batching. As parts leave the CNC machine they can be deburred immediately in the CF. The CF is quiet too, eliminating one of the health and safety aspects of using large vibro machines.
The Otec CF Series Oil machine further optimizes small parts deburring to match the output from CNC machining by using a compound-oil mixture in place of a compound-water mixture in the finishing bowl. Where traditional finishing required small parts to be degreased, cleaned, dried and accumulated before deburring, the CF Series Oil machine eliminates these time consuming tasks. The oil and media are separated and recovered from the deburred parts, while the oil is filtered and recirculated. Removing the need for a water connection also makes locating the equipment in the cell more flexible.
Not forgetting the small job shop owner, Otec has made the revolutionary oil deburring process available on their ECO benchtop range of equipment that starts at an amazing price of just $595. A compact footprint and the need for only a 115 volt 60Hz single phase power input means the device is truly plug and play. The units achieve fantastic and repeatable results without supervision, freeing time to work on more creative and productive tasks. Processing is fast - sometimes as little as one minute is all that is required. There is even an ECOmini, wet or dry, for truly small scale use.
Alongside these new developments, Otec Precision Finish Inc will be showing a full range of deburring and polishing solutions at IMTS 2002. Booth-7231 should be a high priority for visitors who are serious about optimizing their deburring and polishing processes for both cell and just-in-time production.
