Artisan Industries offers continuous evaporation for heat-sensitive material separations
The Artisan ProTherm 50 thin-film evaporator can be used for purification of APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients), pharmaceutical intermediates and fine or specialty chemicals, for solvent recovery, and for drying or solidification of biomass materials. Thin film evaporation on the ProTherm 50 can be readily scaled-up to commercial manufacturing operation for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and biotechnology industries.
Waltham MA -- The new Artisan ProTherm 50 is a horizontal, thin-film evaporator capable of high-vacuum and low- or high-temperature operation with extremely short residence time. Heat-sensitive materials experience temperature for less than a minute compared to hours with conventional rotary evaporators.
The ProTherm 50 can be used for purification of APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients), pharmaceutical intermediates and fine or specialty chemicals, for solvent recovery, and for drying or solidification of biomass materials. It can also be used for purification and recovery of product after SMB separation and solvent recovery during SMB processing.
Unpurified feed material is pumped into the ProTherm 50 where it is subjected to a precise combination of temperature and vacuum. Centrifugal force generated by the rotor blades holds a thin film of the material against the heated wall, where the more volatile components transition from liquid to vapor phase. These blades constantly renew the thin film as incoming feed displaces progressively more concentrated material towards the bottom discharge nozzle.
The ProTherm 50 is capable of processing 12 to 38 liters per hour. Mounted on it's own cart, the ProTherm 50 can be used in walk-in hoods or moved about the lab or pilot plant. It is self-contained and can be readily connected to on-site utilities. The compact unit fits through standard doors.
The ProTherm 50 offers single pass concentration up to 99%, low temperature operation, and short residency time. Its sanitary design, easy installation and maintenance, and compact size make it ideal for both the lab and pilot plant. It is capable of process testing or production runs in cGMP facilities.
This specially designed version of Artisan's highly regarded Rototherm® thin film evaporator eliminates the safety and loss-of-product concerns associated with large-scale glass rotary evaporators. Thin film evaporation on the ProTherm 50 can be readily scaled-up to commercial manufacturing operation for the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food and biotechnology industries.
