CHILDSERV STEPS OUT FOR CHICAGOLANDS CHILDREN
2002 Walk-A-Thon to benefit 4000 children and their families in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties
On Saturday, June 1st ChildServ will Step Out for Children to host its 2002 Walk-A-Thon in Lake County. The money raised by this event will help support the programs and services provided to the 4000 children and families ChildServ reaches each year.

CHICAGO, Ill., May 8, 2002 -- On Saturday, June 1st ChildServ will Step Out for Children to host its 2002 Walk-A-Thon in Lake County. The money raised by this event will help support the programs and services provided to the 4000 children and families ChildServ reaches each year. ChildServ is a private, not-for-profit organization that has been helping children and their families build better lives since 1894. ChildServs programs include daycare, tutoring, foster care and adoption, early childhood education, immigration services and parenting support.
The Step Out for Children Walk-A-Thon will be held on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. -- 12 p.m., at the Half Day Forest Preserve in Lincolnshire. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. All walkers can partake in the many family-friendly activities at the 2002 Walk-A-Thon including games, face painting and prizes. In addition, walkers will enjoy the beautiful scenic 5K route (3.1 miles) along the Des Plaines River Trail. They will also have an opportunity to gain valuable information about ChildServ. Strollers and wagons are welcome! Walkers are encouraged to pre-register, but day-of-event registration is also available. The suggested minimum donation is $25 per adult walker.

ChildServ is a private, not-for-profit child-well being organization affiliated with the United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Childrens Homes and Related Ministries (PCHARM).
