POTH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT OF TEXAS JOINS GROWING LIST OF SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES IMPLEMENTING BETWIN SOLUTION TO MEET EDUCATION COMPUTING REQUIREMENTS

Nationwide Schools And Universities Rapidly Embracing ThinSofts BeTwin Software Solution Due To Its Delivery Of Uncompromised Computing Power At A Lower Total Cost Of Ownership

California (PRWEB) May 30, 2002 -- THINSOFT (USA) Inc ('ThinSoft) today announced that the Poth Independent School District of Texas has implemented the BeTwin Thin Computing software solution within its information technology (IT) framework to fulfil their computing requirements.

The Poth Independent School District joins a rapidly growing list of US schools and institutions, which include the Sage Hill Schools of California and Regis University of Colorado, to embrace the BeTwin solution developed by ThinSoft.

With BeTwin, a maximum of five users can concurrently share the computing power of a host PC. Each user has full access to the power of the host computer and can run the full spectrum of Windows applications at the same time, including supporting multimedia applications.

BeTwin can be installed in any computer and through connections with standard Universal Serial Bus (USB) keyboards, mice, video cards and monitors, additional users instantaneously share the full and uncompromised computing resources of a host PC.

This results in a lower initial cost of investment in computing resources and leads to a dramatic reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Mr George Peters, Technology Coordinator, Poth Independent School District, said: We use BeTwin where we might use a Thin Client. BeTwin is better because it is simple to install and operate. BeTwin reduces the cost of a new station by about 30% and it reduces the cost of an upgrade by about 60%."

ThinSofts Marketing Manager Charanjit Dhillon said: The appeal of BeTwin is that each user can have a customized desktop, unique network login and can concurrently and independently run all popular applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, databases and e-mail.

Furthermore, users access the Internet via one modem and phone line. The significance of BeTwin is that it allows IT managers to add extra workstations in PC labs without having to buy additional new PCs. This allows schools to have more workstations at a lower cost, which stretches their limited budgets.

As such, we are seeing school districts writing RFQ (Request For Quotation) specifications to include hardware configured for the BeTwin software."

Besides BeTwins growing acceptance in the U.S., the versatile Thin Computing software solution has been adopted in the education environments in the Peoples Republic of China (PRC), such as the academic district of Zhongxian of Chongqing, and other Asian countries.

In the U.S., BeTwin is also gaining penetration in the private sector in the small and medium enterprise arena as well as large corporations such as StorageUSA of Tennessee, the Blandin Paper Company of Minnesota and eMortgage of Texas.

BeTwin retails for $79.95 (U.S.) per workstation and applications that are supported by the Windows environment will operate without any changes in conjunction with BeTwin.

BeTwin can be downloaded for a limited free trial period. Interested users can visit the ThinSoft website at www.thinsoftinc.com for more information.
