New Internet Company Strives To Make The Problem Of Lost Luggage A Thing Of The Past.

TORONTO, ONTARIO. - May. 30, 2002 -- A unique company has hit the Internet this month. Amazingtags.com, a Toronto area company, produces custom luggage tags with your own picture, and they are registered with an online database in case you lose them.

Three years ago, Paul Goldsmith the founder of Amazingtags.com, was standing at a crowded luggage carousel at Torontos Pearson International Airport. While he stood there trying to remember exactly which shade of blue his suitcase was, an elderly lady approached him. Excuse me, said the lady could you help me lift my bag from the belt, its that big black one over there". Paul gladly obliged and after several excuse mes" and a fair amount of hard work, he pulled the bag from the belt. The elderly lady bent down to read the airline paper tag. Oh, Im very sorry!" she exclaimed, but this is the wrong bag!" After an exhausting five attempts the correct bag was finally pulled from the belt and the now embarrassed lady departed.

As Paul studied the bags on the belt, waiting for his own bag to arrive, he noticed that a lot of people had trouble identifying their bags. His fellow passengers had used a variety of methods to help their luggage stand out from the crowd, some had string of various colors tied to their handles, some had an X marked with duct tape, others were covered in stickers. He decided there and then, there had to be a better way!

When Paul arrived home he did some research and discovered that over 2.5 million bags go missing or are reported as mishandled per year in the U.S. alone! How many go missing worldwide? Also after talking to friends and relatives and listening to their horror stories of suitcases taken home by the wrong person etc, the idea for Amazing Tags started to form.

Amazing Tags are ridged plastic tags 4 x 2 ¾ inches in size and are printed using a technique known as dye sublimation. During this process heat and pressure are used to transfer the ink below the surface of the tag. We print our tags this way in order to create a durable tag that wont peel or flake.

On one side of the tag is a picture supplied by the owner, via the Internet or mail. This picture can be virtually anything, your children, grandchildren, favorite place, pet or company logo. The choice is yours! This personal picture will ensure that your bag is easily identified on the carousel, and helps to stop others from taking your bag by mistake.

On the other side of the tag is a number registered with our online database, and instructions to log onto amazingtags.com in case the bag is found. When the finder enters their contact details the owner of the tag is automatically e-mailed to report the good news. Customers may also add their travel itinerary to the database, so that if their luggage is lost on the outward journey it can be sent directly to their hotel, rather than back home.

Our minimum order is $19.95 U.S., which includes two tags with two years database service. All of our tags are supplied with genuine leather tie straps to secure to your luggage.

Looking for a gift for someone who has everything? Look no further! Amazing Tags make a great personal gift to family or friends who travel.
