On July 01, 2002 a special group of little travelers and their families will begin an exciting journey to China to discover their roots in the land of their birth and take the time to explore some of Chinas most spectacular sightseeing highlights along the way.
With approximately 30,000 adopted Chinese children living in the United States, Lotus Travel President Mr. Louie Yi, sees the companys Heritage Discovery Tours as a cultural bridge between the United States and China. The majority of adoptive families work hard to maintain a sense of cultural identity with China. Heritage tours are one way to positively expose the children to their heritage through an educational and entertaining visit to their birthplace."
Participating families will have the opportunity to visit typical sightseeing highlights in Beijing and Xian including the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terra Cotta Warriors and a Li River Cruise in Guilin. Additionally, the group will enjoy special cultural activities common to families in China such as the opportunity to make Chinese dumplings, fly a kite in Tiananmen Square, try their hand at traditional Chinese painting or calligraphy with local Chinese children at Guilins Childrens Palace, and observe as cormorant birds are used to catch fish under the evening stars near Guilin.
With a clear vision for what adoptive parents want to experience on the tours, staff members use their extensive experience and knowledge in working with adoptive families before, during, and after the process, both in the United States and in China, to create a special memory filled journey that families can cherish for a lifetime by offering both group and independent private tours that can be customized to take in both Chinas main tourist cities as well as the cities where the children were born.
