Good News for Last Minute Summer Camp "Shoppers"
SummerOnCampus.com publisher, Carole Warsawer, assures parents its not too late to sign up for most camps on her site -encouraging news for those who are scouting the net for last minute ideas.
Founder and Pulblisher of SummerOnCampus.com, Carole Warsawer, assures parents its NOT too late to sign up for most of the academic, sports, and art camps on her site. That's encouraging news for parents and kids scouting the net, hoping to find the perfect camp program this summer -- well, maybe not perfect, but affordable and doable! Post September 11th fears have subsided and, according to Warsawer, the frenetic activity on her website this month indicates people are actively perusing the internet, hunting down options. "The average number of visitors to our site has actually doubled compared to this same time last year, from 350 a day to 700 a day - partly due to increased awareness of the site, and partly due to later-than-usual planning on the part of parents". Many camps are accept campers right up to the last week: Some competitive arts camps that require auditions or portfolios do have deadlines; however, even where theres a stated deadline, parents should inquire: Directors sometimes make exceptions and there also might be a cancellation.
To add humor to the sometimes daunting task of finding a summer camp, Warsawer tells parents of a 'Sibling Appreciation Camp (St.Louis-Dispatch, 5/5/02) for which there is always availability -"It's a great fallback camp for kids who complain about their parents choice. And for teens, heres an even better fantasy - a 'Parent and Teenage Bonding Camp, where kids share cabins and activities with a parent. These camps guarantee extra last-minute space!"
