Qualystem Technology announces the first solution for Linux® servers allowing to manage as one a fleet of diskless PCs running Windows® operating systems
Qualystem LAN-PC provides enterprises and organisations running Linux® servers with a powerful mean to ease management tasks and reduce the Total Cost of Ownership of their Windows® PC fleets, and ensure business continuity. Users can actually run Windows® 9X, 2000 or XP on diskless stations. Performances are impressive: the remote boot of a diskless station is even faster than a boot based on a local hard disk.
Paris, France -- June 3rd 2002 -- Today Qualystem Technology announced that it has validated its Qualystem LAN-PC network solution for Linux® file servers and Windows® XP Pro clients: a unique and powerful management solution for cost conscious organizations. Qualystem LAN-PC (formerly known as LiteNET PC) is a set of software solutions that allows complete configurations (operating systems and applications) to be installed in one operation on a set of networked PCs, even without hard disks. Qualystem LAN-PC now allows the diskless boot and operations of Microsoft Windows® 9X, 2000 or XP operating systems on the client side.
Qualystem LAN-PC facilitates administrators' work by allowing them to perform deployment, administration and updating functions centrally. Qualystem LAN-PC for Linux® servers has relevant applications in environments such as company networks, training rooms, 'Open Access' PCs, teams of mobile and isolated workers, PCs in the home or in hostile environments, and more. It is also an effective and economical alternative to a thin client architecture.
Because the local hard disk appears clearly as the PC's weakest link, containing as it does the operating system and applications which can easily become unstable, Qualystem Technology has perfected a unique technology that allows PC operations to be optimised while dispensing with a hard disk. With its Virtual Volume System Architecture (VVSA), Qualystem Technology now makes it possible to start Windows® 9X, 2000 or XP systems from a virtual hard disk hosted on a traditional Linux® server holding one or more virtual volumes.
With its innovative and unique architecture, Qualystem Technology is the only company to offer unified management - from a Linux® server - of a base of PCs without hard disks and running Windows® systems, said Hacène Hebbar, Chief Executive Officer of Qualystem Technology.
Our solution for Linux® servers will allow companies running Linux® servers and Windows® stations to leverage on our Virtual Volume System Architecture (VVSA) for even more reliability, cost control and reduction -- and peace of mind" said Yves Gattegno, Chief Technical Officer. Performances are extremely satisfying since we register better boot performance from the Linux® server than from a local hard disk."
Besides reducing the cost of managing an installed base of PCs, Qualystem products significantly increase users' and administrators' overall productivity. This in turn ensures continuity of service and zero administration on client workstations.
Prices for Qualystem LAN-PC licenses start at 29$. For more information about price and availability, please contact Qualystem at: contact@qualystem.com.
The latest Qualystem Technology technological innovations will be presented at the France Tech Show in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 25 to 27 June 2002.
