Efficient Appliance Helps Reduce Water Consumption

GROVEPORT, OH, June 3, 2002 -- Staber Industries, based out of Groveport, OH, has attracted national attention among consumers wanting to reduce water and energy consumption. With water restrictions and concerns over water consumption in many areas, Stabers unique top load horizontal-axis clothes washer offers major water and energy savings compared to traditional top load agitator washers without the inconvenience of bending over to use a front loader.

Staber offers savings of $300 or more each year compared to traditional agitator washers by using less resources. Staber washers save around 30 gallons of water per load, use 75% less detergent, and 50% less energy compared to top load agitator washers. For the average family of three doing eight loads per week, this means savings of over 11,000 gallons of water, 800 kWh of electricity, and 10 gallons of liquid detergent each year compared to a traditional agitator washer," explains William Staber, president of Staber Industries. Only 1 ounce of detergent is needed due to the use of only 15 gallons of water per load (compared to about 35-50 gallons and 4-8 ounces of detergent per load for an agitator washer.) Over 90% of the energy used by a washing machine is the hot water used; thus, a washing machine is more energy efficient if the overall water usage is reduced.

Total front access to parts and no transmission to break down also means less energy used and longer life expectancy. As an ENERGY STAR® Partner, Staber Industries has determined that its Staber washers meet the ENERGY STAR® guidelines for energy efficiency. The ENERGY STAR® label has been created by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to help consumers quickly and easily identify home appliances and other products that save energy.

Available in both residential and commercial models, the Staber washer tumbles laundry like a front loader but maintains top loading convenience. Instead of a round tub, Staber uses a patented stainless steel eight-sided outer tub with a six-sided inner tub tumbles the laundry down repeatedly into a bottom pool of water. This creates a unique water pumping action that forces the water through the clothesbasket and gently tumbles the clothes to clean and prolong the life of garments more effectively than circular tubs. It can hold more laundry compared to agitator washers, up to 16 bath towels.

Staber Industries is an Ohio family-owned business in operation since 1976 that started originally as a re-manufacturer of coin operated laundry equipment. Most sales are shipped factory-direct to the customer. The best way to learn more about Staber is to visit www.staber.com and call 800-848-6200 between 8-5 EST.
