MINNEAPOLIS -- June 4, 2002 -- BioconX, Inc., developer of network security software that deploys biometrics to fortify network and application security, has been named by Healthcare Informatics as an "Up & Comer," an outstanding technology company offering one of the healthcare markets most highly demanded solutions. Healthcare Informatics is a leading healthcare IT magazine. In the June issue, the editors highlight BioconX as one of six "Up & Comers," noteworthy U.S. companies that are "distinguishing themselves through focused and practical technical solutions, smart acquisitions and partnerships, and most of all, clear strategies geared to carry them deep into healthcares future."
According to the magazine, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) "is pushing hospitals and health systems toward innovative and economical ways to secure data, systems and communications." Commenting on the selection of BioconX, the magazine notes that the companys technology alliances and business partnerships "will help BioconX in its core goal of becoming the de facto standard middleware and software for HIPAA through biometrics."
"Recognition by Healthcare Informatics signifies that BioconX offers a proven solution for healthcare organizations to apply biometric authentication of users and safeguard the security of their networks, applications and confidential data," says Vincent C. Hren, president and chief executive officer, BioconX.
Healthcare organizations deploying BioconX software for HIPAA include Antelope Valley Hospital (Lancaster, Calif.), Emergency Medical Services Authority (Tulsa, Okla.), and Madison Plastic Surgery (New York, N.Y.). A4 Health Systems (Cary, N.C.) and American HealthNet (Omaha, Neb.) have selected BioconX software as their HIPAA security solution for customers who use their application systems. Securesoft Systems, Inc. (Laguna Hills, Calif.) has also signed a VAR agreement to integrate BioconX software into its Immunity Security Management Suite to enable healthcare systems to meet HIPAAs security requirements.
Healthcare Informatics is the second prominent publication to recognize BioconX in the past six months. In January, SC Magazine, a top computer security publication, designated BioconX as a "Security Company to Watch in 2002." SC Magazine called BioconX a notable innovator in information security and one of the selected security vendors proving to be "inventive in their solutions, pragmatic in their business strategies, and strong in their missions."
About BioconX, Inc.
BioconX, Inc., Minneapolis, Minn., develops network security software that deploys biometrics, the technology of authenticating individual identity from unique personal characteristics, to replace passwords and safeguard computer system security. BioconX supports major operating systems and applies biometric access control to any application without modification of application source code. The software authenticates the identity of users by comparing their finger scan or the iris of their eye against all stored biometric templates. It then instantly enables users to immediately access all servers, and any application, for which they have authorization with one single, simple, and secure biometric sign-on. BioconX software is device independent and compatible with biometric technologies, input devices, and hardware from Siemens, Sony Electronics, Iridian Technologies, BioLink Technologies International, Inc., and Key Source International.
