AMERICAN BOARD OF TRIAL ADVOCATES CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT DALLAS HEADQUARTERS

The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) celebrated this week the one-year anniversary of relocating its national headquarters from the Los Angeles area to Dallas.

DALLAS (PRWEB) June 12, 2002 -- The American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) celebrated this week the one-year anniversary of relocating its national headquarters from the Los Angeles area to Dallas.

Founded in Southern California in 1958 to help preserve the U.S. Constitutions 7th Amendment guarantee to a civil trial by jury, ABOTA officially moved its headquarters to Dallas on June 1, 2001, to be more centrally located in the United States and to consolidate services with The Foundation of ABOTA, already headquartered in Dallas.

Our leases were up in California and Texas, so it made sense to bring all areas of ABOTA under one roof," said ABOTA President Patrick C. Simek of Lubbock, Texas. In addition to centralizing national operations for our chapters located throughout the country, the economic benefits of consolidating administrative efforts of ABOTA and the foundation were primary factors for the move."

Among the many publications produced by ABOTA, Voir Dire magazine serves as the flagship publication and features in-depth articles on current and historical issues related to the 7th Amendment, and the Presidents Report newsletter focuses on news, events and community relations activities within the association.

The foundation provides the Masters in Trial program, held annually in more than 25 cities nationwide. The program allows attorneys to hone their skills by witnessing comprehensive trial demonstrations, in an educational setting. The foundation also distributes Justice by the People, an interactive CD-ROM and video that teaches students about trials by jury

Other services provided by the foundation include a speakers bureau and law-related reference materials.

ABOTA is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges. ABOTA and its members are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the 7th Amendment to our United States Constitution. The Foundation of ABOTA is an affiliated charitable entity, the mission of which is to support the purposes of ABOTA through education and research. ABOTA membership consists of more than 5,600 lawyers and judges spread among 92 Chapters in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
