Campus Door Wins with Speed

For the second straight year, Campus Door brought home an armload of trophies from the Carlisle "Mini Indy" race held June 8-9.

Carlisle, PA, 10 June 2002 -- For the second straight year, Campus Door brought home an armload of trophies from the Carlisle "Mini Indy" race held June 8-9. Teamed with Provion and Planet Cable, Campus Door won the Friday night Pit Crew competition with a time of 15.0 seconds-beating their winning time from last year. They also captured awards for Most Colorful Team, Most Team Spirit, Most Creative Theme, and Best Dressed Team.

On Saturday morning, Campus Door won their first qualifying race and finished eighth in the final race.

The Mini Indy race is sponsored by the Carlisle Family YMCA, which is expected to raise $20,000 from this year's event. Miniature Indy-style cars equipped with Briggs & Stratton five-horsepower gasoline engines streak through the heart of downtown Carlisle in front of thousands of spectators. During each 20-lap race, teams are required to do three pit stops, consisting of tire and driver changes.

In the Pit Crew Competition, teams push the car 60 feet, change drivers, and change a six-inch racing tire.

"Teamwork, speed, the right people, and solid practice," said Campus Door President Damien Q. Elias "are a winning combination."

"It comes into play at community events like the Mini Indy-and in our business of higher education funding, it means a performance record that makes 90 percent of our customers say they'd recommend us to a friend."
