Cirpack Releases High Density VoIP Interface Board for its Carrier-Class Telephony Switches

Cirpacks Voice Switching Platform Supports Simultaneous TDM, ATM and IP Traffic with Unparalleled Density and Scalability

CIRPACK, a leading vendor of next generation telephony equipment for telecom operators infrastructures, today announced general availability of a new toll-quality Voice over IP (VoIP) interface board for its line of carrier-class media gateways, local exchange and transit switches.

With an unprecedented 1024 voice channels capacity, the Cirpack VoIP board allows telecom service providers to build high density networks at a very low cost per channel. The Cirpack VoIP board connects to transit networks and/or access equipment via POS STM-1 or Ethernet. It hosts 128ms G.168 echo cancellers to deliver toll-quality VoIP services across the 1024 voice channels.

This is a great addition to our line of carrier-class interface boards," explains Frederic Potter, CIRPACKs CTO and Senior VP. Our public telephony solutions can now switch any type of voice traffic to any type of backbone and local loop, including TDM, ATM AAL1, ATM AAL2 and now IP in any combination. Our technology allows service providers to connect to any network at any time and transparently deliver similar services across any of them. Cirpacks VoIP boards offer state-of-the-art features with major OPEX and CAPEX savings," he adds.

Cirpacks Universal Telephony solutions are field proven carrier-class switches delivering a full range of advanced subscriber (Class-5) and transit (Class-4) voice services across legacy and broadband networks. They can host a mix of any connectivity interfaces, including Cirpack SDH boards with 21/42/63 E1s, Cirpack VoATM boards with 1024 AAL2 and 1024 AAL1 channels, and now Cirpack VoIP boards with 1024 VoIP channels. Cirpacks switches provide superior scalability, handling up to 180,000 voice channels of mixed TDM, IP and ATM traffic (equivalent to 6,000 E1s).

Telecom service providers can use Cirpack equipment to entirely replace their legacy TDM switches at a fraction of the cost. Adding a Cirpack VoIP board now allows them to offer toll-quality VoIP services to subscribers using MGCP, SIP or H.248. Cirpack VoIP boards are also software upgradeable to IPv6 and VoMPLS to protect investments and help smooth migrations to packet telephony.
