Little League Québec and NDG Minor Baseball Host Inter-Provincial Tournament

Montreal: Play downs towards the Little League World Series begin this Friday in Montreal as an Inter-Provincial pre-cut tournament is held.

NDG Minor Baseball League, affiliated with the worldwide Little League organization based in Williamsport, PA, is hosting the Lionel Geller -- Martin Coté Inter-Provincial Tournament with twelve teams from Ontario and Quebec participating.

The participating leagues will use this tournament to help them decide the rosters of the teams they will field in their divisional, provincial and National Little League tournaments that culminate in the Little League World series held annually in Williamsport in August.

Jon Simon, Tournament Director and a Director of La Petite Ligue de Baseball du Québec is excited about the lasting effects of this tournament. Never before have we had an opportunity this early in the season to be able see the players perform at tournament level to help determine the rosters. This is going to be a fun weekend of thirty ball games." NDG Baseball in western Montreal has chosen to honour two of its longest serving volunteers by naming the tournament in their honour. The tournament is sponsored by Ericsson Canada Inc.

NDG Minor Baseball League has been operating in western Montreal for over forty years. It offers true Little League baseball to residents of the boroughs of Cote-des-Neiges /Notre-Dame de Grace as well as Cote-St.Luc/Hampstead/Montreal-West and Westmount.
