Open Interface and Hitachi Keiyo Engineering & Systems, Ltd. Ease Bluetooth(tm) Systems Development
Open Interface North America, Inc. (Open Interface) and Hitachi Keiyo Engineering & Systems,Ltd., a Hitachi, LTD. affiliate, today announced that they have developed an advanced Bluetooth wireless communication systems using Hitachi, Ltd.'s SuperH(tm) processors and Open Interface's BlueMagic(tm) 3.0 embedded Bluetooth protocol stack.
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Bluetooth Congress 2002 (PRWEB) June 14, 2002 - Open Interface North America, Inc. (Open Interface) and Hitachi Keiyo Engineering & Systems,Ltd., a Hitachi, LTD. affiliate, today announced that they have developed an advanced Bluetooth wireless communication systems using Hitachi, Ltd.'s SuperH(tm) processors and Open Interface's BlueMagic(tm) 3.0 embedded Bluetooth protocol stack. Open Interface North America is a leading provider of Bluetooth(tm) wireless technology software and services, and Hitachi Keiyo Engineering & Systems,Ltd. will distribute the BlueMagic(tm) 3.0 embedded Bluetooth protocol stack.
Open Interface has ported the BlueMagic 3.0 embedded Bluetooth protocol stack to the Hitachi SH7727 SuperH processor using a SolutionEngine development board, running the NORTi µITRON4.0 real-time operating system. The combination of a SuperH processor running the BlueMagic 3.0 protocol stack on a SolutionEngine board provides the software and hardware tools necessary for customers to evaluate Open Interface's software and Hitachi's hardware for incorporation in devices using Bluetooth wireless technology. Simple functions such as debugging, performance evaluation, and application development are enabled by using Hitachi's SolutionEngine board with a UART-based Bluetooth I/O expansion board attached to the SolutionEngine board's serial expansion slot. This flexible and complete development system allows developers to design, prototype, and test Bluetooth wireless technology products and get them to market quickly.
"By combining the Hitachi SuperH SolutionEngine system and the Open Interface BlueMagic 3.0 embedded Bluetooth protocol stack, application developers and device manufacturers can simplify the testing process, shorten time to market, and lower development costs," said Greg Burns, Vice President of Product Development for Open Interface. "In addition to superior performance from the BlueMagic 3.0 protocol stack and the SuperH processor, customers using this solution also benefit from comprehensive services, including implementation consulting, interoperability testing, and technical support. This complete package makes the Hitachi and Open Interface solution attractive for system development."
"Open Interface's BlueMagic 3.0 protocol stack solution is designed specifically for the embedded market and is a perfect fit for SuperH processors," said Hitachi Keiyo Engineering & Systems,Ltd. Senior Engineer, Mr. Masami Ishii. "Open Interface's embedded solution reduces OS dependency, development costs, and memory requirements."
Open Interface will be demonstrating its BlueMagic 3.0 embedded Bluetooth software in booth 104 at Bluetooth Congress 2002 in Amsterdam, June 12-14.
