FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
TALK SHOW HOST CONTINUES BATTLE TO REBUILD NEW YORK'S WORLD TRADE CENTER TWIN TOWERS "AS IS"
(NEW YORK) Internet/radio broadcaster Andy Martin will present a special edition of "Andy Martin's America" Friday, June 14, 2002, at 1:30 P.M. to condemn apparent efforts by New York officials to break up the World Trade Center site. Martin has been leading efforts to rebuild the Twin Towers "as is," or in some similarly tall size.
| | - am distressed that New York officials have leaked to the New York Post that they want to carve up the World Trade Center site. The American people want a symbol that memorializes the terror attack of 9/11. They don't want a Quonset hut rebuilt on the location.
|
| | - need be, we will go to court to stop carving up the site," says Martin. "I continue to believe that the best memorial to the victims, and to America, would be a bigger, taller, better building on the site. When I say 'as is,' I don't necessarily mean exactly as they were. But the Twin Towers blueprints are available to rebuild, so that is my default position.
|
"'Andy Martin's America' will keep up its efforts to rebuild the Twin Towers as a magnificent memorial and as testimony to the fact we will not allow terrorists to redo the skyline of America."
