DATABASE INDUSTRY CERTIFICATION EXAM GOES LIVE
Team Database, The International Association of Database Professionals, has partnered with Prometric, a part of The Thomson Corporation, to deliver the vendor-neutral Database Industry Certification Exam.
The Database Industry Certification exam will go live on Monday, June 17, 2002 and registration for the exam will be available through Prometrics www.2test.com as of Thursday, June 13, 2002. Candidates in the U.S. and Canada may take the exam at any of the more than 1,238 Authorized Prometric Testing Centers.
This exam is the only requirement to become a Certified Database Industry Specialist, and is one of multiple requirements for Certified Database Professional, Certified Data Modeler, Certified Database Programmer, Certified Database Architect, and Certified Database Expert. An overview and list of exam objectives is available at www.TeamDatabase.com/certifications/IndustryExam.db.
The new Database Industry exam fee is US$99 for members of Team Database, US$180 for non-members. Members may download a PDF version of the Study Guide, while non-members will have to wait for the printed version.
Many people manage databases every day in one way or another, but have avoided the vendor-based certification exams because of their reputation as generally being quite difficult. Another issue for many database professionals is the lack of certifications that are broader than the interests of individual database software companies," said John Lambert, President of Team Database. Lambert has first-hand knowledge of those certifications, having passed eleven database exams from three of the leading database vendors. The certification program offered by Team Database will serve two roles: providing exams that can serve as introductory-level certifications to those who work with databases but have less than two years experience, and providing exams for more experienced professionals who need credentials that evidence a broader range of knowledge than is available from limited-focus vendor-based exams."
Now, more than ever, strong database management is critical to the success of businesses, states Susan Robinson, Prometrics Vice President Client Services and Support, and we are delighted to partner with Team Database to deliver this very impressive program."
