Two Hotels with PowerCold Ultimate Comfort Systems Earn Top ENERGY STAR Honors From Environmental Protection Agency

LaVernia, TX, June 13, 2002 - PowerCold Corporation (OTCBB: PWCL) announced today that two Montana hotels fitted with the companys proprietary Ultimate Comfort System technology are among the first hotels in the United States to be honored with the ENERGY STAR Label issued by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The two properties are the Laurel Super 8 motel and the Bozeman Wingate Inn® hotel. In order to qualify for the award, a minimum score of 75 is required on the 1-100 scale of EPAs Energy Performance Rating System. The Bozeman Wingate Inn scored 95 and the Laurel Super 8 scored 100. These two hotels are the first hotels to achieve the ENERGY STAR label. The scores, as well as the indoor environmental quality of the hotels, were verified by independent professional engineers.

The ENERGY STAR award is based on an energy performance assessment tool that evaluates 12 months of energy consumption data, the square footage of the building, the occupancy rate, the number of rooms and other related criteria. The recognition is given by the EPA to buildings with proven energy management strategies that attain superior standards of efficient energy consumption.

PowerCold CEO Frank Simola said, This is important recognition of the value that our Ultimate Comfort System HVAC installations bring to hotels, managed care facilities, office building and condominiums. We are grateful for the recognition by the EPA that further verifies the significant energy savings that users of the Ultimate Comfort Systems can realize."

The EPA estimates that by 2010, the savings from energy efficient investments will reduce the annual greenhouse gas emissions in the United States by 2.4 million tons --the equivalent of the pollution produced by 1.7 million cars -- and save taxpayers more than $750 million per year.

Ultimate Comfort Systems is a patented heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system for new and retrofit construction of hotels/motels, managed care facilities, office buildings, condominiums and apartment complexes to significantly decrease maintenance expense and power costs by up to 50% while enhancing property revenue opportunity. PowerCold believes the market for this new HVAC technology includes over 1,000 new buildings planned for construction by major motel/hotel chains in the next three years. The Ultimate Comfort Systems web site and product brochure is online at http://www.hawkassociates.com/powercold/company.htm

PowerCold markets energy efficient and environmentally safe equipment to reduce power costs by up to 50%. PowerColds patented highly efficient Nauticon evaporative water-cooled condenser, which is a key component in an Ultimate Comfort installation, improves heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration efficiency and reduces power costs over the typical commercial air-cooled condensers.
