"Searching is not an easy process and getting the pieces to come together takes time and patience," explained Deborah Shoup, creator of Adoption Puzzle. "There are many things to do once you have decided that you want to find the pieces of your own puzzle. Combining our resources with Genealogy Today will greatly expand what we can offer adoptees and birth parents."

Whether you are dealing with being adopted, a birth parent or an adoptive parent there are places you can turn to when you need someone to understand. The Adoption Puzzle site is organized into several key areas: Learning to Search, Adoption Support, Reunion Registries, Mailing Lists, Adoption Reform, Online Search Tools, Adoption Laws/Legal Help, and Adoptees Rights.

"The process of the search and the result of the search can be a healing and rewarding experience," added Deborah. "I wanted to make things easier for others that were new to searching. The site was my way of remembering how difficult the process really is."

The current site, launched in August 1997, was an expanded version of "Deborah's Adoption Center" that resided on her own personal home page. There are sites just for Birth Parents, sites just for Adoptive Parents and sites just for Adoptees. Adoption Puzzle is designed to bring the adoption community together as one.

"There are so many similarities between adoption and genealogical research," commented Illya D'Addezio, owner of Genealogy Today. "It's a privilege to help expose Deborah's work to a broader audience. This will certainly be a welcome addition for all the adoptees that already rely on Genealogy Today as a key resource."
