BioconX Now Supports AuthenTec Fingerprint Identification Sensors

BioconX, Inc. has added AuthenTecs FingerLoc(tm) AF-S2 and EntrePad(tm) AES4000 fingerprint identification sensors to the set of proven biometric technologies and devices that its network security software supports.

MINNEAPOLIS -- June 18, 2002 -- BioconX, Inc., developer of network security software that deploys biometric authentication to fortify network and application security, announces that it has added AuthenTecs FingerLoc(tm) AF-S2 and EntrePad(tm) AES4000 fingerprint identification sensors to the set of proven biometric technologies and devices its software supports.

"We give our customers real flexibility to choose the biometric authentication method and hardware they prefer. So, ensuring that our software is compatible with the best authentication technologies is critical to our product strategy," says Vincent C. Hren, president and chief executive officer, BioconX. "AuthenTec is a leading semiconductor company and offers one of the industrys most advanced fingerprint sensors."

"AuthenTecs semiconductor devices for fingerprint image acquisition are dependable and durable in real-world conditions," says Don Harris, chief technology officer, BioconX. "Their imaging technology creates a digital pattern from more than 16,000 individual elements to accurately capture the underlying structure of fingerprints."

AuthenTecs FingerLoc AF-S2 is an integrated circuit fingerprint sensor that combines silicon-based image capture with proprietary sensor control and matching algorithms. It is specifically designed for the demands of the PC and access control markets. The EntrePad AES4000 sensor is optimized for use in portable and laptop PCs, PDAs, and Internet appliances.

Both of the silicon-based semiconductor devices utilize AuthenTecs patented TruePrint(tm) Technology to look past the easily obscured outer surface of the skin to the living layer below where the unique ridge and valley patterns of the fingerprint reside. They produce precise digital images of fingerprint patterns. Detailed information is available at www.authentec.com.
