Computer Users No Longer at Mercy of Factory Default Settings; New Software Allows Users Unprecedented Control Of Windows Systems

New software has been developed which will give individual computer users an unprecedented ability to make changes in their Windows operating system as well as Internet browsers and other installed software programs. The new tool, called WinGuides Tweak Manager, will enable individual users and network administrators alike to make their computer systems faster, more efficient and more user-friendly.

"Tens of millions of PC users have been at the mercy of the technicians who lock in the default settings on Microsoft Windows and other software programs," said Simon Clausen, president of the Windows Guide Network, producers of WinGuides Tweak Manager. "There may be aspects of Windows they find awkward, obtrusive or just plain annoying, but they dont believe they have the technical know-how to dig into the guts of Windows and change the operating program to their liking. That changes now with Tweak Manager."

WinGuides Tweak Manager employs a simple user interface to enable even a novice computer user rapid access to hundreds of powerful Windows registry settings that affect a computers speed, security, efficiency and convenience. By using their mouse to check boxes in categories that control everything from logon sequences to desktop display, Tweak Manager users can tailor every detail of their computer to their individual preferences.

Clausen said, "There are literally hundreds of powerful tweaks that have heretofore been invisible to the casual computer user. You can make your logon quicker. You can change the security settings for your programs and documents. You can adjust how your computer downloads and stores web pages and e-mail.

"Changes that were once the sole domain of people with advanced degrees in computer programming are not at the fingertips of people who dont need to know a Windows registry from a hotel registry", he said.

Clausen said there are unique components to Tweak Manager that make it attractive and useful to both casual users and highly trained system administrators. Those include:

• Remote capability that will allow an administrator to make Windows registry changes on networked computers.

• A live update feature that allows the continual downloading of new tweaks for Windows systems and third party software applications.

He said, "Youve been able to buy software in the past that promises to let you optimize your systems. The problem, though, is that there is no static software that can keep pace with the rapid changes taking place in personal and network computing. With live updates, Tweak Manager never becomes obsolete and enables users to keep control of their own computer systems."

Windows Guide Network is an internationally-recognized company that has produced, among other applications, the highly popular Windows Security Guide.

A free demonstration version of WinGuides Tweak Manager can be downloaded at www.winguides.com/tweak. The full version of the software can also be purchased at that site.
