FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

LENAHANS COMING: TOP CELTIC ROCK GROUP PERFORMS
AT SHAMROCK 2002 CELTIC CONCERT

July 1, 2002 - Baltimore, Maryland: The Baltimore St. Patrick Parade Committee announced today that Celtic rockers Lenahan, acclaimed as one of the worlds top Celtic rock bands" by The Washington Post, will perform at the Shamrock 2002 Celtic Concert on Saturday, September 14, at 10:15 p.m.

Twice named Best International Irish Band" by Irish World newspaper (Ireland and the U.K.), winners of 5 ASCAP Songwriter Awards, and internationally known for their creative fusion of traditional Celtic music with American blues, rock and jazz, and World music influences, Lenahan has recently sold out concerts at The Kennedy Center, the Brooklyn Museum of Art (3,000 people), and at performing art centers, festivals and colleges across the U.S. and in Europe.

Based in New York City and Londons vast Irish section, Lenahan is also known for their high energy live performances. Fiddler Clarence Ferrari rocks the house with his dynamic approach to traditional Irish jigs and reels, and at any given moment band leader Tom Lenahan might jump off the stage with his bagpipes and dance with the audience. Lenahans rhythm section is comprised of Ryan Cavan on drums and Brendan OGrady on bass, a duo who are able to switch seamlessly from reels to reggae and from jigs to jazz. North American and World Champion stepdancers Emily Endean and Lauren McGerrity join the band on their famous flying feet.

Particularly known for boldly taking the bagpipes where theyve never gone before," Tom Lenahans music is featured in the Irish motion picture, Beyond the Pale, which won awards at the Galway and Houston International Film Festivals. Lenahans new CD, which was released on March 17, Brand New Bag, expands the boundaries of Celtic music by incorporating World music, blues and even ska and reggae influences with the bands traditional Irish music roots. In addition, the bands signature blazing bagpipes and fiery fiddling shine through.

Shamrock 2002 Celtic Concert will be held Saturday, September 14, at McFaddens Restaurant, 10 Market Place, in Baltimore. Appearing with Lenahan will be local favorites Donegal X-Press and OMalleys March with Baltimores own Mayor Martin OMalley. The doors open at six and entertainment will be continuous throughout McFaddens facility.

Tickets are available through Tickets.com by calling 800-955-5566, at all Olssons Books and Records stores and select FYE and Coconuts stores in the Washington D.C. area. Tickets are also available through the Tickets.com web site at www.tickets.com.

Shamrock 2002 Celtic Concert is a fundraiser whose proceeds support Baltimores St. Patricks Day Parade. The next Parade is scheduled for Sunday, March 16, 2003. The Parade is the longest running parade in Maryland; and 2003 marks its 47th consecutive year.
