(PRWEB) June 28, 2002 -- June 26, 2002 -- Q Comm International, Inc. (OTC BB: QCCM), a business services company focusing in the electronic distribution of prepaid wireless and other services, announced today that Telefyne Incorporated will begin promoting Q Comms Qxpress 200 point-of-sale activation (POSA) solution. Q Comm has already shipped new Qxpress 200 units to Telefyne and will continue to roll out additional units as needed.
Telefyne is a facilities-based carrier and switch-based reseller of prepaid services that primarily targets retail and wholesale resellers. Telefyne is also a CLEC in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi in addition to being fully tariffed as an IXC and for 1+ operator services throughout the nation. The Companys mainstay is switching prepaid traffic. Telefyne switches for some of the largest distributors and domestic carriers in the nation. Established in 1997, Telefyne is one of the oldest prepaid telecom players in the United States. The Company focuses on serving retailers and has amassed more than 4,500 retailers nationwide that it supplies directly in addition to about 15,000 more that it supplies indirectly through its distributors.
Telefyne founder and CEO, Jorge Bellas, says my needs for a stable, cost-effective, user friendly POSA environment that effectively manages inventory led me to Q Comm and their Qxpress 200 system."
Bellas says that carriers like Telefyne are rapidly moving to POSA distribution to capture many benefits including securing accounts, improving sales intelligence, customizing products, least-cost pricing, and expanding product portfolios.
Bellas says that POSA helps him improve relationships with his retail customers and secure a stronger foothold with his accounts. With installation of the hardware, you now become married to the account. In addition, youve now got a banking relationship with them. With POSA you have much more control and a bond or relationship that you cant achieve with hard cards.
Another advantage is that it gives us the ability to determine how much volume our retailers do, know when their volume picks up, accurately forecast their volume, and know which products are selling well and which arent. This sales knowledge enables us to take preemptive action to supply the right products and terms. For example, rates, connect fees, margins, and lots of other variables can be adjusted to optimize sales and profits in individual locations.
When youre selling hard cards and working with distributors, you dont know what retail locations those cards end up in, you dont even know what city or state they end up in. With POSA, the guesswork is eliminated and we know exactly who is selling what and when. POSA lets us least-cost originate by retail location and helps us be more efficient price wise and cost wise in the products we offer.
POSA is also helping us expand our product portfolio. Were adding prepaid wireless and other products to the services we sell to our retail customers. POSA helps us put the full press on cellular and any other prepaid products coming down the pike such as prepaid Internet, Visa/Master Card, money grams, and so forth. These products are starting to gain footing and you need to be able to provide them in some kind of sleek dispensing unit, which Qxpress 200 does. You cant go hard cards with this stuff, it just doesnt work."
Bellas says that demand for POSA from his distributors and retailers is heating up. More and more our customers want to go to POSA. And because they want it, weve got to deliver it. POSA does a lot for our distributors and retailers. It essentially gives them credit terms, as they no longer have to pay in advance for inventory. They also like it because it eliminates or greatly reduces pilferage. And its increasingly becoming the only feasible way for them to neatly dispense the growing array of prepaid services. Just looking at prepaid wireless, they would have to carry cards from Cingular, VoiceStream, Verizon, AT&T, and any regionals they may have. Without POSA, its impossible."
In the final analysis, Bellas says, we need to convert our customer base to POSA. We just need to do it, because if I dont, someone else will first. Youll ultimately have POSA wherever you go, so you better do it and you better hurry up. Our goal is to migrate over as many of our people as possible to POSA in the next year."
Economic and market forces are driving the conversion from hard cards to efficient electronic delivery systems," said Stephen C. Flaherty, president of Q Comm International. Flaherty is supported by analysts and research firms such as Atlantic-ACM who says that point-of-sale activation (POSA) will completely reconstruct the way in which prepaid services are sold, calling it the next big wave in wireless technology."
We believe our innovative Qxpress 200 system provides optimal solutions to all players involved in distributing prepaid services, including premier carriers like Telefyne," says Flaherty.
Telefyne is an organization of integrity," continues Flaherty. Were not only pleased to be working with them in converting to POSA, but they are also our premier provider of prepaid long distance. They are bent on service and customization that increases profitability for Q Comm and our brokers and merchants. Telefyne can custom create any prepaid long-distance product for us within 24 hours. This flexibility and service is key in todays dynamic market where long distance is becoming a commodity and services are becoming the gating factor to making a sale. Telefyne is a great strategic partner for us and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them well into the future."
