Web Database and Content Management is easy with Xara Online's Modules
Version 2 of Xara Online's Modules has been released, allowing anyone--even non-programmers--to create powerful, database driven website applications.
Xara Online, a leading provider of modular Web Services, today announced the second release of its Data Manager Modules. These Xara Modules are building blocks that enable non-programmers to create powerful web applications that integrate into and enhance the functionality of any website. The range and level of sophistication of database, email, SMS and content management applications that can be built is extensive.
The Data Manager comprises of the Form, Database, Query, Database Writer, Mailer and Reporter Modules. Version 2 offers many new features, such as the capability to use HTML within an application, allowing highly customized emails to be used for newsletters, auto responses, etc. Such emails are created using a simple WYSIWYG rich text editor. The Reporter, an extremely powerful Module, allows for the customized display of search results, database data or site content. It can be used for site content management to add, edit, or delete data on a website without having to use an authoring tool.
The connectable environment of the Xara Modules means that they can be combined to create any number of web applications, from simple feedback forms to content management to full database applications such as membership management, car sales database or directory lookup. The new Data Manager compliments Xara Online's other innovative features such as the easy upload and manipulation of images, the ability to update the website remotely via the Internet or mobile phone, and SMS functionality that enables the website to both receive and send SMS messages.
"The Data Manager modules reinforce Xara Online's vision of easy yet powerful tools so that anyone can add database, email and SMS functionality to their website. We also enable users to update their content without using any authoring tool," says Nova Fisher, VP Marketing. "Along with our other Modules, such as those offering SMS, the range of applications that anyone can build is now even greater."

The New Xara Online Connectable Web Service Technology:
The Xara Online revolutionary system of connectable modules is based upon the new Web Service industry standards such as XML, SOAP and .NET. We believe they are the world's first connectable Web Services aimed at the non-technical, non-programmer market. The first connectable modules include Form, Mailer, Database, Query, Reporter and SMS modules enabling non-programmers to create a wide variety of data driven applications, from simple polls and feedback forms to online sales databases and content management to a full eCRM application.
Web Services
SOAP Web Services are a new industry standard for calling programs over the Internet. Instead of a web page at a given URL, there is a program that can be called by other programs. There are SOAP compatible clients for just about all platforms meaning it's easy to use Web Services from just about any operating system or platform. The 'big 5' IT companies, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Sun and HP have all backed the new SOAP Web Services standard, and it's expected there will be a flood of new Web Services as a result.
