Shonda Sue celebrates album anniversary, single debut
Indianapolis teenage recording artist Shonda Sue will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of her "Girl Thang" album and the debut of a single from that album in Europe and Australia Saturday, July 27, 2002. The album is her third recording, but first Nashville project, and features five originals and five cover songs. The single "Live While I Can" was released by Comstock Records in May and has been picked up by DJs across Europe, in Australia and in select U.S. cities.
Indianapolis teenager Shonda Sue continues to pursue her dream of sharing her gift for singing with the world. Helping her on that front, Comstock Records released the debut single "Live While I Can" in Europe, Australia and select U.S. cities in May (2002).
"Girl Thang," the Nashville project from which the single was released, is Shonda Sue's third album, recorded on an independent label.
"We decided we didn't want to sit idly by and wait for Shonda Sue to be discovered," said Craig Moore, her father, sound engineer and business manager. "The family has invested a lot of time, energy and finances in getting Shonda Sue's name, face and especially her voice out to the listening public. If it is meant to be, she will reach the right people in the music industry and achieve her goal of obtaining a deal with a major label."
Until then, Shonda Sue and her family plan to continue touring, performing and increasing the fan base for the teenage artist.
While "Girl Thang" is a country album, Shonda Sue also sings gospel. Two of her three albums are country and a second gospel project is currently in the planning stages.
A special celebration has been planned for Saturday, July 27 in Shonda Sue's Indianapolis neighborhood. Friends and family have been invited. Neighbors, fans and potential fans have been encouraged to pack a picnic dinner, bring their families and friends along with a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a free concert.
An opportunity to meet Shonda Sue and have any album purchases autographed will follow the concert which begins at 7 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from merchandise sales for the evening will be donated to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
"We are looking forward to introducing her to people who may have heard of her but never actually heard her sing," said Kimberly Moore, her mother and booking agent.
Potential sponsors are being invited to the event in order to give them the opportunity to hear Shonda Sue in person.
A sponsorship marketing program has been designed to defray travel and other expenses incurred while touring as well as to help finance the upcoming gospel project. In exchange for their contributions, sponsors - depending on their level of sponsorship - are offered a variety of marketing incentives ranging from a page on the official Shonda Sue website to a personal concert appearance for their employees or for a customer appreciation-type event.
