Viking Media introduces the new WebStreamer S-1 turnkey web streaming system, a security-enhanced version of the feature-packed product line that allows users to broadcast media rich events live over the Internet

San Jose CA, July 10th, 2002 -- Viking Media (www.vikingmedia.com), a provider of web casting hardware and streaming media software tools, is announcing the WebStreamer S-1, a security enhanced version of its WebStreamer series of turnkey systems.

The WebStreamer product line features multi-format encoding hardware, presentation software and web hosting services packaged into a true turnkey solution. WebStreamer allows the user to web cast live or on-demand multimedia events to a global audience via the Internet. The product is targeted towards corporate needs including marketing, training and financial communications.

The WebStreamer S-1 has a number of improvements that increase security from intrusion, unauthorized viewing and power failure. The addition of a firewall allows for a secure networking environment, rejecting unwanted requests from possible attackers. The firewall protects the encoders and local web/media servers and works transparently with most Content Delivery Network providers.

An Uninterruptible Power Supply module has been added to the WebStreamer S-1. The UPS protects the hardware from power spikes and fluctuations that can be detrimental to computer equipment. In addition to supplying continuous power during a temporary outage, it allows the user to save all data and settings and safely shut down the system.

WebStreamer S-1 ships with Webocaster Enterprise authoring software from Eonware (www.webocaster.com). The Enterprise Edition features security enhancements with Challenge/Response technology and individual viewer logging, allowing only authorized viewers participate in the web cast.

This web based authoring tool allows the user to set up and manage live and on-demand multimedia presentations from anywhere. The software, which comes with a broad selection of layouts, allows for branding and customization without the need for programming. Built-in Photoshop templates offers the producer maximum freedom of design without the hassle of HTML coding.
