Beach Cities Robotics New Website

Beach Cities Robotics Team 294 launches new website, www.bcrobotics.org, documenting past activities and new season plans, to make it easy for parents, interested community, and interested 8th -- 11th graders attending Mira Costa High School or Redondo Union High School next year, to see whats going on. The website will also give F.I.R.S.T (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology www.usfirst.org) teams, and those wanting to get their own team off the ground, an inside look at how Beach Cities Robotics does things, and the resources used by their team. Interested 8th -- 11th graders who plan to attend MCHS or RUHS can sign up on the website, and begin work immediately over the summer. Besides building the robot, team members have opportunities to participate in many other activities, including animation, CAD, computer programming, electronics, engineering, finance, fundraising, grantwriting, machining, mechanical design, project management, planning, publicity, welding and website design. Mentors are needed in all areas. RUHS offers a robotics summer school class also open to MCHS students, and the auto shop is being redesigned into a robotics classroom -- all to be documented on the website. This program is unusual in that two rival schools combine to compete regionally and nationally together. Beach Cities Robotics is the ONLY west coast team to have won a national championship in Orlando, Florida.
