Dublin, 15th July 2002 -- PolarLake, the Irish-headquartered enterprise XML and Web Services company, Hitachi Systems & Services, Ltd., a member of the Hitachi Group and a leading Systems Integrator of XML and Java-based solutions in Japan, and Beacon IT, a leading vendor of business-critical systems and products in Japan, today announced a partnership to deliver enterprise-grade Web Services-based solutions in the Japanese market.
Customers will now be able to create mission-critical Web Services-based solutions, leveraging Barista, Hitachi Systems & Services J2EE integration framework, in conjunction with PolarLakes enterprise grade application assembly and deployment platform, and EXTES® Xuras®, Beacon ITs XML enablement middleware solution for mainframe-based systems. Through this agreement the three companies have agreed to joint sales promotion and marketing activities in the development of XML and Web Services systems.
"We see this partnership as key to Hitachi Systems and Services commitment to supplying our customers with cutting-edge technologies and know-how that allow them to focus on corporate strategies, not technology," said Mr. Kiyoshi Ishii, Department Manager, Business Planning and Development Department, Hitachi Systems & Services, Ltd. "The combination of the PolarLake enterprise-grade XML and Web Services platform and BeaconITs mainframe enablement products will allow our customers to gain the benefits of the XML and Web Services revolution today. These products are important additions to our Barista framework."
"We have been very impressed with the PolarLake product, particularly with its focus on enterprise-grade features integrated with easy to use tools that match Beacon ITs own strategy," said Minoru Inui, General Manager, Internet Product Development, Beacon IT. "The combination of EXTES Xuras and PolarLake allows customers to leverage existing IT investments, particularly on mainframes, and extend those into new Web Services-based architectures. The involvement of Hitachi Systems & Services allows this partnership to deliver complete solutions leveraging the Barista framework and its strong track record in systems Integration."
"I am delighted to announce this alliance with Hitachi Systems & Services and Beacon IT, which are both world-class companies specializing in XML and Web Services for the Japanese markets," said Ronan Bradley, CEO of PolarLake. He added, "We are seeing a rapidly growing requirement both in Japan and worldwide for enterprise-grade products for creating and deploying XML and Web Service applications, unleashing the power of XML and Web Services. I believe that our recent alliances reinforce our position as a provider of leading-edge enterprise XML and Web Services technology."
PolarLakes Java-based XML and Web Services platform is a high performance enterprise-grade software platform for the rapid and cost-effective creation and hosting of Web Services and XML processing. Based on its patent-pending Dynamic XML Runtime, PolarLake is ideally suited for deploying complex XML and Web Services processing as required by industries such as financial services (for Straight Through Processing and back-end processing systems) and telecommunications (for next generation service creation and management).
Barista, the J2EE Framework provided by Hitachi Systems & Services, enables the efficient development of database access components and client screen components required in J2EE compliant Web applications. In the framework for database access, the source code required to handle database records as objects is automatically generated using a Barista-provided wizard. The screen generator framework, incorporating MVC architecture, allows for extremely flexible development.
EXTES Xuras is an XML / Web Services enabling middleware product for Hitachi, IBM and Fujitsu mainframes, through which companies can easily connect to E-Business systems.
