A PROVEN BLUEPRINT FOR SUCCESS

"Im going to high school. A Guide to the Private High School Admissions Process" written by Alice Dickerson (Necessity breeds invention, September 2001) is a step-by-step workbook to assist middle school students who are interested in attending a private high school. It takes a very stressful, competitive, multiple-part process and simplifies it by empowering the student to make some personal determinations, while organizing, planning and managing the many tasks involved in this endeavor over an 18-month period.

The National Association of Independent Schools website -- www.nais.org states of the 53 million school children in America, 5.9 million or 11% attend private school. Acceptance into a private school is difficult but not impossible. Unfortunately, until now, for the 89% of school-aged students that have not been educated at a private school the admissions process has been very illusive. Most families that are interested in sending their students to a private school dont even know where to start."

This workbook changes everything. Written on at a 6th grade level it simplifies the process into three stages -- RESEARCH, PREPARATION AND SCHEDULE. Guiding the student through self-evaluation, school inquiries, application requests and completion, test preparation, interviewing and task scheduling. Written as a what-to-do" instead of a how-to-do," this workbook also lists over 45 national, regional and local educational references that provide a wealth of information from school listings and credentials, school ratings, special programs, financial assistance, education consultants and recommended reading materials.

Manasa Hekymara, Executive Director, Independent School Alliance for Minority Affairs (an educational consultant program which is affiliated with 38 private independent elementary and secondary day and boarding schools) stated for students undergoing this process independently there is definitely a need for such a publication."

The author, Alice Dickerson is a mother whose own children have been educated at private schools. After figuring out the process" involved in getting both her daughter and son accepted into private high schools, she was compelled to share this information with others unaware that there is necessary tasks that need to be accomplished before your student is accepted for admissions and enlisted the help of educational professionals, to write and publish this workbook for students truly interested in obtaining the best possible education available.

This publication is currently available for $19.95 in print or $6 as an e-book, through the publishers website at www.privateschooladmissions.com/workbook.htm. It is also available through Amazon.com, and BarnesandNoble.com and wholesale through Baker & Taylor.

More information on the private school admissions process can be found on the Internet at A Guide to the Private School Admissions Process -- www.privateschooladmissions.com.
