Protein Kinases Conference
IIR is organising a conference on Protein Kinases in Drug Discovery. This will be held in Cambridge, UK, 28th to 30th October 2002
Protein Kinases as Therapeutic Targets in Drug Discovery and Development
IIR is delighted to present their new conference on 'Protein Kinases as Therapeutic Targets in Drug Discovery and Development 28th and 29th October, Cambridge.
This three-day conference will equip you with the information you need to position your company in the highly competitive field of protein kinases.
Interest in Protein Kinases has expanded exponentially since the discovery that regions in and around the ATP binding pocket can be selectively targeted for drug therapies. Tyrosine Kinase inhibitors are already on the market and progress on p38MAPK in particular, means that drugs targeting serine/threonine Kinases may not be far away. This resurgent interest in Kinases has been matched by advances in the assays required to measure their activity.
Novartis is now applying to widen Glivec use, based on evidence from a clinical trial showing Glivec had significantly increased survival time when used as first-line treatment in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia.
IIRs new conference will assess how discovery in the protein kinase field has been taken further in the development of new drugs. Our international faculty from pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry leaders, and academia will discuss the identification of kinases as targets, target screening and validation and drug design.
In addition, we have organised a post-conference workshop on 'Assay Development for Protein Kinases 30th October 2002, Cambridge. This will be led Drs James OConnell and Rodger Allen from Celltech. We urge you to visit our website regularly to get updated on the development of the workshop.
