Classic SF Universe Revived With New Novels
To be announced at the World Science Fiction Convention, ConJose, in San Jose Calif. over Labor Day weekend.
The underground classic sf novels in the Sime~Gen Universe will be reprinted in hardcover and trade paperback, with additional new novels.
Star Trek authors, Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Jean Lorrah together and separately create the Sime~Gen Universe.
The Sime~Gen Universe was created by Jacqueline Lichtenberg, starting with the short story "Operation High Time" in the January 1969 issue of Worlds of IF Magazine, edited by Frederik Pohl.
Later, when he was editor at Bantam Books, Pohl bought Lichtenberg's nonfiction book about Star Trek, and titled it Star Trek Lives! Meanwhile, Lichtenberg sold novels in the Sime~Gen Universe which were regularly reviewed in the New York Times Book Review by Gerald Jonas. Lichtenberg's second novel, Unto Zeor, Forever from Doubleday in hardcover won the Galaxy Award.
Lorrah and Lichtenberg met through Star Trek fandom and Lorrah began collaborating in Lichtenberg's Universe after the publication of Unto Zeor, Forever.
Jean Lorrah then sold a fantasy series of her own, titled Savage Empire, and later published several best selling Star Trek novels from Pocket Books, starting with the Vulcan Academy Murders.
Sime~Gen fans gathered online creating new fans and an outpouring of fan activities from online role playing to vast amounts of new fiction by fans. In 1999 Lorrah and Lichtenberg incorporated Sime~Gen Inc. and launched www.simegen.com, housing a writing school, a reviews department, an ever growing Sime~Gen fandom complete with online fanzines, and much more.
Now Meisha Merlin Publishing Inc. (www.meishamerlin.com ) has picked up the Sime~Gen novels to be re-issued in hardcover and trade paperback starting in 2003. Subscribe to the free newsletter to be notified when pre-publication orders will be taken.
The first new novel in the Sime~Gen Universe will be Jean Lorrah's To Kiss or To Kill. Then Lichtenberg will add a new novel to the story-arc about the founding of the legendary House of Zeor.
