THE BRITECH FUND HELPS DEVELOP INNOVATIVE NEW MIND ALERTNESS PROGRAMME (MAP)

An innovative new Mind Alertness Programme (MAP) launched by BSM (British School of Motoring) is the result of funding and cooperation through The Britech Fund, a support fund set up between the governments of Britain and Israel. MAP, developed by Israeli-based CogniFit for BSM, is an excellent and practical example demonstrating how Britech (Britain-Israel Technology Foundation) assists businesses to find suitable R&D (research and development) partners.

MAP comes in the form of a CD-ROM for use on home PCs and takes each user through a challenging series of assessments of various cognitive skills of the human brain, each skill being crucial to driving, including perception of speed and distance, focus of attention, memory and speed of decision making. The initial assessment takes about 30 minutes to complete, after which users personal results are analysed and sent to their driving instructors to indicate to them the aspects of the students driving and cognitive skills requiring further training.

Paul Atkinson, Managing Director of BSM said: Britech provided the catalyst to bring this project to life in June last year, concluding with the launch of MAP in May 2002. Without the extensive support of Britech it is unlikely this project would have got off the ground as smoothly as it did."

Dr Tony Warwick, Britechs Chief Executive, commented: I am delighted to see the successful conclusion of this excellent new and innovative system and its encouraging to see a project that will be of benefit to so many people."

Prof. Shlomo Breznitz, CogniFits Founder and President expressed his confidence that MAP would contribute to the safety of new drivers. This important product could not have been developed without Britechs invaluable help, and without BSMs vision of providing leadership to drivers training,"
