IIR Industry Alert: JEA Northside Station Completes Clean Coal Repowering
JEA is replacing two Riley Stoker Oil Front-Fired Dry Bottom Boilers with two (2) Coal/Petroleum coke-fired Foster Wheeler (FW) Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers (CFB).
HOUSTON--JULY 25, 2002--Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). JEA (Jacksonville, Florida), the local municipal electric utility, has restarted two General Electric (GE) 298 megawatt (MW) steam turbine generator sets with new boilers. The units, which are 1966 and 1972 vintage, are in the testing phase and the project was partially financed by the Department of Energy (DOE) Clean Coal Program. Testing should be completed and commercial operation is expected during the early fall of 2002.
