Snom AG launches the first feature-rich and affordable SIP registrar proxy for VOIP in the Small and Medium Enterprise

Carrier grade registrars and proxies are already available but snom technology sees a strong market demand for an affordable, interoperable, user-friendly, yet state-of-the-art SIP registrar proxy which has yet to be addressed and has hindered the further deployment of VoIP, especially in small and medium enterprises.

After an extensive series of successful customer site tests under various operating conditions, snom technology AG is proud to announce the launch of the first product in their next generation snom 4S range.

Carrier grade registrars and proxies are already available but snom sees a strong market demand for an affordable, interoperable, user-friendly, yet state-of-the-art SIP registrar proxy which has yet to be addressed and has hindered the further deployment of VoIP, especially in small and medium enterprises.

The use of SIP telecommunications systems can be of great benefit in a business environment, increasing employee productivity and reducing operating costs and thus TCO (Total Cost of Ownership). It can also help to improve service delivery and information handling.

The snom 4S is an affordable and effective communications solution for small and medium-sized businesses. Apart from fitting together perfectly with snom VoIP phones, it is also compatible with SIP hard phones from other vendors such as Cisco, Pingtel and Siemens, as well as being interoperable with Microsoft Messenger. Adding a SIP PSTN gateway from Cisco, Mediatrix, Sony or Vegastream for example makes calls to normal" telephones possible.

The proxy runs on Windows 2000 and XP versions, Linux and Solaris. The snom 4S comes in three different versions; Entry, SME, and Xpert. The entry model is for users who want to test the system, do not require advanced features and are restricted to a tight budget. The SME version is for medium-sized companies with up to 50 users and the Xpert version for companies with up to 500 users.

The snom SIP stack includes such advanced features as DNS SRV, loose as well as old-style strict routing, sequential forking, TCP, session timer, and presence.
