ZELGO.COM, THE INTERNET SITE FOR SENIORS, CALLS FOR GOVERNMENT PROVISION OF LIFE INSURANCE FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID RECIPIENTS
ZELGO WANTS THE GOVERNMENT TO FILL THE GAP THAT NOW PREVENTS SENIORS OVER 65 AND SENIORS WITH MEDICAL PROBLEMS FROM OBTAINING LIFE INSURANCE
Pointing to the fact that seniors over the age of 65 find it difficult to impossible to find life insurance coverage during those especially vunerable years, Zelgo.com, the site for seniors on the go, has proposed that all seniors over 65 be covered by government supported life insurance.
Currently the most readily available private coverages are the so-called "final expense" (burial) policies. These usually have a maximum death benefit of $25,000 for seniors less then 75 in age, and only $15,000 for seniors over 75. Some of the policies pay even less then the stated value if death occurs during the first 2 years of the policy start date. These policies are not inexpensive, usually $2000 to $3000 a year.
In some states even these policies are simply not available to seniors with even the slightest medical problem; and those problems do have a habit of increasing with the increasing years.
Other quality of life problems faced by seniors is the fact that when a spouse dies his or her social security payments are discontinued, placing an even greater burden on the surviving spouse. This is especially true when little or no life insurance is available.
" This is not the time to be throwing the "greatest generation" out on the street because they may lack, or have been unable to get decent life insurance" said Stanley E. Lebow, Zelgo.com chairman. "it is time to provide each senior family with mutual life coverage of $50,000 to $100,000", Lebow continued," the details can be worked out as we go. Everyone has been talking about social security, prescription coverage and other help for seniors, the time to add life insurance coverage is now well past due!"
Zelgo.com announced that they will be meeting with insurance professionals, elected politicians and prominent personalities to make the idea of government supported life insurance for seniors
a national goal.
