Visionael Offers ROI in Less Than 12 Months with Device Configuration Management
Visionael has launched a new device configuration management (DCM) offering to provide customers with the ability to drastically increase network uptime and lower configuration costs through enhanced control of the configuration and change management processes.
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- July 31, 2002 -- Visionael®, which provides carrier-grade network resource management (NRM) and service creation solutions, today announced it has launched a new device configuration management (DCM) offering to work in concert with its Visionael 6 NRM software solution. Visionael DCM provides customers with the ability to drastically increase network uptime and lower configuration costs through enhanced control of the configuration and change management processes.
Visionael 6 helps network engineers develop and maintain a centralized repository of network inventory, configuration and change management information, enabling a complete, real-time view of all physical network elements and the circuits that overlay them. Visionael DCM will leverage this information to help users create, modify and sequence device configuration changes and to organize collections of these changes by project. It will also provide interfaces to upload changes to devices and to download or capture current device configurations. Visionael DCM will include tools to compare combinations of proposed configuration changes, configuration histories and other managed configuration files, reducing the amount of time it takes to plan and execute complex configurations within a network.
Visionael DCM will be sold as an affordable add-on module to the Visionael 6 solution. In most service provider and enterprise IT environments the product will offer full return on investment (ROI) in less than one year by driving the time and cost out of a traditionally lengthy practice through precise, automated processes.
According to Larry Goldman, director of OSS research at RHK, Service providers will not return to profitability by simply cutting their capital expenditures. They must also automate the various network processes, like device configuration management, to lower their total cost of ownership. Products like Visionaels new DCM solution will help service providers simplify the planning and implementation of configuration changes in large networks, reducing mistakes and reducing their costs."
The launch of Visionael DCM underscores Visionaels commitment to meeting the needs of its customers by enabling its market-leading NRM solution to deliver comprehensive configuration management capabilities through technology integration and development. Visionaels recent alliance with Intelliden further reflects this initiative. Together, the companies offer the ability to improve network utilization through a complete device and inventory management solution.
Visionael DCM comes as the direct result of feedback from our customers. We are intensely committed to fulfilling their requirements and are confident this offering will provide a significant value within their networks," said Jeff Cotrupe, senior product marketing manager at Visionael. We are proud of the ROI that Visionael DCM offers our customers and will continue to develop technology integrations and additional capabilities that will increase the value of Visionael solutions for our users."
